Song Camp: Breath, Body, and Voice
A 4-week singing series for those who want to unlock, explore, and embrace their voice.
Summer is around the corner, and I can’t help but think back fondly on those humid summer days spent at camp. Over nine summers, I was a camper, counselor, and staff member at my local county 4-H Camp. It was my JAM.
Summer camp tasted like freedom. I felt like anything was possible. Singing was an integral part of the camp experience. We sang to greet the day, we sang at meals, we sang while walking from one activity to the next, and we sang every night around the campfire. These were opportunities to free the voice, be silly, have fun, and create deep bonds.
If you have been feeling a stirring to explore your voice, Song Camp: Breath, Body, and Voice is a 4-week singing series designed for play, experimentation, and a commitment to learning. Whether you’re a car-and-shower-only singer or have experience singing and want to explore your voice in a new way, you’ll walk away with new practices and songs to express yourself more freely.
Singing in a group invites us into presence, joy, healing, and liberation. We’ll shake it out, warm up our bodies, play with sound, and learn songs together.
Discover what is possible for your life when you claim your voice.
Singing is about
expression, joy, and liberation.
Group singing frees the voice and shows us that it is safe to take up space. It also teaches us how to deeply listen.
Singing is a pathway to liberating the truth that lives within you, because your truth and your voice matter.
Joy and pleasure are your birthright. Accessing them requires attunement, devotion, and cultivation. Singing, especially in a group, is one of the most instinctive ways to ignite joy and pleasure in your body.
Song Camp: Breath, Body, and Voice is an opportunity to explore your body, breath, and voice in a supportive group setting. Together, we will awaken to the fullness of what it means to be human.

Group singing now has clinical data supporting beneficial health outcomes.
A 2023 study found that group chanting and vocalization after a single session led to significant reductions in cortisol, the body’s primary stress hormone.
In a 2023 study in South Wales, singing was associated with significant increases in multiple immune markers
Sound therapy, toning, and humming are used in clinical settings to reduce pain, anxiety, and blood pressure.
Singing releases dopamine, serotonin, oxytocin, and endorphins simultaneously, a neurochemical combination almost no other single activity produces at once.
Singing actively promotes a "ventral vagal" state, or what we may refer to as the feeling of belonging. This is a physiological condition associated with feelings of safety, social connection, calm, and genuine presence.

This immersion is designed for everyone — from people who only sing alone in the car to those who are more comfortable singing and want to go deeper. If you're curious about your voice, you belong here.
-
I have some great news for you. True tone-deafness is very rare, affecting only 1.5–4% of people. The chances are that what you actually have is an untrained ear-body connection. The way to work with this is through practice!
-
While this will depend on the group (and because I like a bit of mystery), each weekly session includes voice and breath warm-ups, embodiment practices, learning songs together, and space for reflection.
-
First and foremost, a deeper relationship with your voice. This voice that has been with you and will be with you for your entire life.
You will also walk away with four songs to share with the people you love and a toolkit of daily voice and breath practices you can work with on your own at any time.
-
This is intentionally a small, intimate group with a maximum group size of 14.
-
Then you are in the right place. You will never be asked to sing in front of the group. This container is warm, safe and completely non-performative.
-
Everyone is welcome. All identities, all levels of experience. The only requirement is curiosity and a willingness to play and explore your voice!
-
Yes, all classes will be recorded. Since a main benefit of this course is singing together, I recommend taking this as long as you can make 3 out of 4 classes.

"I want to stand by the river in my finest dress. I want to sing, strong and hard, and stomp my feet with a hundred others so that the waters hum with our happiness. I want to dance for the renewal of the world."
